London Calling presents: David J Brown is one half of an upbeat & light hearted original English duo ‘a light left on’ from Sunny Clacton on Sea who were recently showcased at the Montreux Jazz Cafe in London & featured on 6music by Tom Robinson.
David has received high praise for his writing from the likes of BBC Essex DJ Veena V & Sue Marchant from BBC Radio Cambridge and his music has been described as ‘melodic acoustic folk with striking lead guitar, subtle strings and blissful harnony’ by the musician’s union and he has just been featured in a recent months Sound on Sound magazine as one of his tracks ‘funfair’ was selected to be used for the B Sides remix competition and an Argentinian producer won most innovative mix with it.
David has been a college lecturer for over 15 years with a BA in music and a PGCE as well as an MA in songwriting from Bath Spa university and has supported various other high profile English artists such as Fiona Bevan, Ramon Goose, Oliver Daldry & Kerry Leatham and his own material has been used in several independent films and library catalogues.
In his spare time he runs a songwriting charity project for children with special education needs.
His duo clock up many festival appearances each year and even got a track ‘Bayonet’ played on the BBC world service.
They have a new album ‘cathedral of shadows’ out this year in 2019 and David has recently collaborated on a live art installation which has been showcased in a prestigious art gallery in Essex.
